Being an NHS member means something!
Hugo Gomer died at age 83 in Austin, MN, on New Year’s Day. His obituary made it into the news online. He was a graduate of Austin High School and a member of NHS. He was also an all-state wrestler and an all-conference football player, but his NHS membership was the only non-athletic high school accomplishment mentioned in his obituary. It’s an honor that his family valued Gomer’s membership in this way.
You are part of this national organization. You have the responsibility to keep the membership of NHS something of value and honor.

Welcome to the National Honors Society!
My name is Mrs. Spencer, and I am the club advisor. It is such a privilege and honor for you to belong to this club. Not all students are invited or eligible to be members. Congratulations! Your choices have made it possible for you to belong to The Society. The coming year will provide more opportunities for you to show enthusiasm for scholarship, to render service, to provide worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in all students of Preston High School.
I know all of you are great people. I have every confidence that you will do your best and we will have a fantastic year. I look forward to working with each and every one of you!
